Development Workshop

This dynamic two-day, 16-hour program was designed to assist the helicopter flight instructor candidate in becoming the absolute best instructor that he/she can be.

The first day of this program, taught by Eric Pangburn, explores fundamentals of instructing from a practical approach. Students will experience individual, class and group exercises to enhance their learning experiences.

The second day of this program presents helicopter theory in a manner that will enable the instructor candidate to then teach helicopter principles to student pilots. Taught by Shawn Coyle, this program breaks down core components in an easy to understand fashion.
Day 1 curriculium includes:
  The learning process;
Human behavior;
Understanding communication;
The teaching process;
Teaching methods most appropriate for helicopter student pilots;
Critique and evaluation;
Use of instructional aids;
Instructor responsibilities;
Instructor professionalism;
Techniques of flight instruction;
Effective planning of instructional activity;
Lesson plan development.
 
Day 2 curriculum includes:
  Correct and appropriate use of terminology;
Teaching fundamentals of flight;
Teaching aerodynamics;
Teaching flight systems;
Teaching emergency procedures.
